“Fitting In” is made by Molly McGlynn. This movie is about a teenage girl named Lindy. She’s a sporty girl who moves into her grandmother’s house with her mom.
Lindy has a new boyfriend, but when she goes to the doctor, she gets some surprising news. She has a rare condition that affects her reproductive system.
It means she can’t have babies like most girls. Lindy feels confused and pushes people away, including her mom and boyfriend.
She joins a support group and meets a non-binary friend named Jax.
This movie talks about important things like being different and understanding your body as a teenager.
“Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant” is a funny and dark movie made by Ariane Louis-Seize. It’s about a teenage vampire named Sasha.
But she’s not like other vampires who like to bite people. She’s different because she cares about humans and doesn’t want to hurt them.
Her parents worry about her and send her to live with her cousin.
There, she meets a boy named Paul who’s willing to help her. Even though it sounds dark, the movie is also sweet and talks about finding someone who understands you.
So, these three Canadian movies at TIFF are unique and tell different stories.
“Seagrass” is about family and identity, “Fitting In” is about dealing with a medical condition as a teenager, and “Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant” is a funny take on vampires and teenage connections.
They each offer something special to the festival.
